The BMSAP is ranked in Class A in the CNRS national committee's Section 31.

The BMSAP is ranked as a Class B journal in ERIH (the European Science Foundation's European Reference Index for the Humanities). It is the only French-language journal in its field with a ranking at this level.

The BMSAP are referenced in the BIOSIS (Philadelphia, USA), GEO-REF (Alexandria, USA), PASCAL-FRANCIS (Vandoeuvre-les-Nancy, France), ANTHROPOLOGICAL LITERATURE (Cambridge, USA) databases.
